Artist, freelance journalist and independent filmmaker, Patricia Cunliffe has worked as Also in 2000, she made a short art film Rhiannon's Bridge, one of the first short films to screen on the ifilm.com website and has screened as recently as 2007 in NYC. In 2002, she made Chili & Tortillas, a short documentary, which screened at the French festival Slow Food on Film.
A Language of Passion, completed in May of 2004,has screened in a multitude of venues: film festivals to include Festival de Cine Chicano in Mexico City, Boyle Heights Latina Independent Film Festival in East Los Angeles, and Cine en Ballaja in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The bilingual documentary appealed to a broad range of audiences and continues to draw interest today.
A Language of Passion, available through NETFLIX and various modes of retail and online distribution; broadcast in NYC and Orlando; reviewed on Montage in the UK; can be found in any movie database and has enjoyed a rather long shelf life overall.
In 2005, Patricia made a political short, Into the Fire, in 2006 a video-journalism project, about the May 1, 2006 immigration reform protest marches, Are We Criminals? which screened at the International Video Journalism Awards, in Germany and in 2008 a short art film, Musings. In 2007 Joie de Vivre opened it's doors to clients, and has produced client videos to include: Atanas Karpeles - Untitled - a promotional video that was invited to show on Reel 13 Shorts and Dear Governor Schwarzenegger - a PSA. Patricia Cunliffe has written, produced, directed, shot and edited most projects to date. Her camera work can be seen in Zozobra 2007 and many Lyn Goldfarb productions. She has worked in development with Peter Rawley, former president of ICM, since 2005 and was recently the production accountant for Henry Jaglom's Just 45 Minutes from Broadway. Currently, she is editing another feature documentary that she shot in Santa Fe, NM. Her writing can be found in the Pasadena Weekly; she authored an exclusive feature on Kenneth Anger, for AMASS magazine; and has had regular columns: City Palette in LA Beat, and Industry Spotlight in musicBIZ magazine. Patricia, former publicity chairman for the Pasadena Society of artists, had her last solo art exhibit "Dreams and Perceptions" in December of 1999. Patricia is originally from Santa Fe, New Mexico and a UNM alum. She lives in Altadena, CA with her husband, songwriter Joey Alkes (Million Miles Away, Montego Bay, Beatnik) and their Malamute, Noah.
